José Mourinho has finally broken his silence regarding the intensifying rumors linking him with a dramatic return to Real Madrid.
The Portuguese manager confirmed that no agreement has been reached with the Spanish giants, insisting his immediate focus remains entirely on his current club. While the former Real Madrid boss acknowledged he is aware of the ongoing speculation, the special one has maintained that no official negotiations have taken place with him directly. Furthermore, he indicated that any decision regarding his next career move will be put on hold until Benfica’s season officially concludes.
When questioned about the Real Madrid links, José Mourinho provided a telling update on his situation:
“Benfica offered me a new contract proposal on Wednesday, but I told them, ‘not now.’ We will see what happens on Sunday. Next week will be crucial for my future.”
Reports across Spain and England claim that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez views Mourinho as the prime candidate to take the reins once again, following a deeply disappointing campaign under Álvaro Arbeloa.
Some media outlets have even suggested that negotiations are already at an advanced stage, despite the lack of any formal announcement from either side. Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, a tenure that saw him lift the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup at the Santiago Bernabéu.
