AFCON 2025: CAS fixed date for Morocco vs Senegal final verdict

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reached a critical stage in the dispute over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, setting May 7 as the deadline for Morocco to submit its formal response.

This follows an appeal by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), which is challenging the decision to award Morocco a 3-0 forfeit victory after Senegal’s players walked off the pitch in protest during the final. Senegal’s legal team intends to argue that procedural errors and officiating failures compromised the match’s integrity, justifying a reassessment or a replay.

Conversely, Morocco maintains that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) acted correctly according to competition rules regarding match abandonment. With an AFCON 2025 final ruling expected to follow shortly after the May 7 deadline, the outcome remains a defining moment for the governance of African football.
