Tottenham Hotspur have made their first signing of the 2026 summer transfer window, officially securing the signature of Andy Robertson on a free transfer following the expiration of his Liverpool contract.
The Scotland captain arrives in North London after a decorated nine-year spell at Anfield, where he won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and two League Cups. With over 300 Premier League appearances, the veteran left-back is widely regarded as one of the finest full-backs of his generation, celebrated for his leadership, consistency, and attacking threat.
New Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi warmly welcomed his first signing, stating:
“Andy is someone I’ve admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team. He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch.”
Sporting director, Johan Lange echoed this enthusiasm, hailing Robertson as one of the league’s greatest-ever left-backs. Currently away on international duty for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Robertson will officially join his new teammates on July 1, expressing his immense excitement to play in front of the Tottenham faithful.
